I have decided to publish this as "Falling in Love with Colorado". But it is the ballad of my daughter's summer of 2010. I say the "2010" since we may write another one next year!! Harmonies sung by Ashley Norton, Nashville, TN.

Lyrics

She chose to spend the summer back in Boulder
Simply made no sense to come on home
For it seems her long time lover had
gone and found another and
left our heroine on her own

First, she started wonderin'
If she'd ever love again
of find someone who knew her many moods and many ways

Then she started wanderin'
up the mountains/down again
so it wasn't long 'till she found friend
no one could take a way

And she called one night to say . . .

Chorus
I am falling in love with Colorado
and I'm calling, just to let you know
that I'm filling up this empty space
with the mountains tall and strong
and I think it's clear that while I'm here
I'm right where I belong.

She started climbing in the foothills
and made it cross the great divide
for she learned that when you climb
the most important thing you find
ain't the view/but all that you
have down deep inside
And she learned what summers for
swimming in the resevoir . . or
climbing mighty mountains more than 14,000 feet
And sometimes she would go
walk down past Arapaho
And see some friends that you know
down on Peral Street

And they'd all sing when they'd meet . . .

Chorus
I am falling in love with Colorado
and I'm calling, just to let you know
that I'm filling up this empty space
with the mountains tall and strong
and I think it's clear that while I'm here
I'm right where I belong.

Bridge
Do you remember when you were just a kid
And after the whole summer, you had to tell folks what you did?
Well, school is over but there's still a lot to know
Like all that you cann hold on to when you can let go . . .

Chorus
I am falling in love with Colorado
and I'm calling, just to let you know
you can feel free to follow me
to the mountains tall and strong
and I think it's clear that while I'm here
I'm right where I belong.
